Represented Artist
Medine İrak (b.1983, Turkey) completed her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Proficiency in Art education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University between the years 2001-2015. Her practice centers on cultural heritage, change, ecology, migration, individual-space and human-nature relationship. İrak, opens a dialogue around human relationship with nature, its connection to urban memory, and forms of representation in public space.The intertwined diverse but interconnected processes of this relationship represent the ‘continuities’ and the ‘changes’ of the ecosystems to which we belong.
In 2020, İrak took part in the Gate27 residency program in Ayvalık and joined the 2022 spring semester Daire Sanat Open Workshop Program. The artist has participated in various group exhibitions and had her solo exhibitions titled ‘Beyond Borders’ (2025) and ‘Construction Rind’ (2022) at Simbart Projects. İrak completed her postdoctoral studies at Brigham Young University Utah, USA in 2024 with the Tübitak Research Scholarship. The artist is represented by Simbart Projects and lives in Istanbul, Turkey.
